A Little Bit About The Church

What type of worship happens at ACA?

Worship is one of the key components to our services, as well as our day to day lives. As a Spirit-filled, Bible-based church, we seek to worship God in spirit and truth according to worship practices found in the Bible. We raise our hands because 1 Timothy 2:8 says, “I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands.” We clap our hands because Psalm 47:1 says, “O clap your hands, all ye people.” We sing and play music because Ephesians 5:19 says to worship “in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,”

Our Pastor

Driven by a deep passion for ministry and a clear divine calling, Pastor Dave and Elaine Stewart came to Akron with a singular mission: to share the transformative Good News of Jesus Christ. Grounded in prayer and a commitment to Bible-based truth, their heart’s desire is to see lives restored, faith renewed, and hope brought to every corner of the community. Together, they walk alongside individuals and families, with faithful teaching, compassionate outreach, and a devotion to serving others, Pastor Dave and Elaine remain dedicated to leading the church family as a beacon of light in Greater Akron.

About The Church

The Apostolic Church of Akron is a Bible-based church. We’re Bible-based in that we seek to base all of our beliefs and our lifestyle on explicit passages of the Bible or on biblical principles.

In March 2007, a small and close-knit group of people prayerfully began to work. We signed a one-year lease for two vacant store-fronts, believing that God had a work for us to do and that he would give us direction and provide for every need.

As prayer continued, December 2008 we moved into our current home on Newton Street. God continued to guide, provide and bless every step of the way. Our new facility gave us the space we needed to reach our community better than ever.

What started with prayer, continues in prayer! We’re here to help and to serve. We are witnesses to the abuses that this world inflicts upon its inhabitants. So with compassion, we reach out as the Body of Christ to bring hope, peace, love and deliverance to the souls in this community. Whether you’re facing the stresses of balancing your professional life and your family life, or if you’re a single parent at your wit’s end… whether you’re living with fear from criminal activity near your home, or oppressed by the intimidation and despair that accompany drug and alcohol abuse… It is our mission to facilitate peace and restoration, and to improve the quality of life, both spiritual and natural, for everyone in the community.

So come and join us. Get to know us, but more importantly get to know Jesus. He knows your name, He loves you as you are today, and He wants to show you who you are through His eyes and what you’re worth to Him who created you.

The basic and fundamental doctrine of this Church shall be the Bible standard of full salvation, which is repentance, baptism in water by immersion in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and the baptism of the Holy Ghost with the initial sign of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance as described in Acts chapter 2.

We shall endeavor to keep the unity of the Spirit until we all come into the unity of the faith, at the same time admonishing all brethren that they shall not contend for their different views to the disunity of the body.

The Bible is the infallible Word of God and the authority for salvation and Christian living. II Timothy 3:15-17 says “and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

There is one God, who has revealed Himself as our Father, in His Son Jesus Christ, and as the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is God manifested in flesh. He is both God and man. (See Deuteronomy 6:4; Ephesians 4:4-6; Colossians 2:9; I Timothy 3:16.)

Everyone has sinned and needs salvation. Salvation comes by grace through faith based on the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ. (See Acts2:38; Romans 3:23-25; 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9.)

The saving gospel is the good news that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose again. We obey the gospel (II Thessalonians 1:8; I Peter 4:17) by repentance (death to sin), water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ (burial), and receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit (resurrection). (See I Corinthians 15:1-4; Acts 2:4, 37-39; Romans 6:3-4.)

As Christians we are to love God and others. We should live a holy life inwardly and outwardly, and worship God joyfully. The supernatural gifts of the Spirit, including healing, are for the church today. (See Mark 12:28-31; II Corinthians 7:1; Hebrews 12:14; I Corinthians 12:8-10.)

Jesus Christ is coming again to catch away His church. In the end will be the final resurrection and the final judgment. The righteous will inherit eternal life, and the unrighteous eternal death. (See I Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 20:11-15.)
